United Way has a unique fundraising strategy. We ask people to donate to fund programs in the community where they live or work. We encourage people in every walk of life, in every workplace and of every age in the Fort Madison area to participate. We do not get funding from huge sponsor-- our average individual or employee donation is about $120. Every penny given in a penny drive, every donation made at a workplace, every check mailed in by a concerned citizen, they all add up to our Community Caring.
Our primary fundraising season is in the fall, but we gladly accept donations all year long. Employee campaigns make up about 70% of our campaign and we so appreciate the company coordinators who work hard to put the “Fun” in our United Way Fundraising campaign. This year's campaign theme is "Everyday Heroes". We all know someone who gives selflessly for our community and we can all be "everyday heroes" by donating to our community caring campaign.
