Here are just a few examples of where your United Way donation is going, and the impact you are making on our community.
- Over 300 people received shelter and food at the Emma Cornelis Hospitality House last year. A total of 69 children stayed at the shelter and 70 adults found jobs and housing for themselves and their families.
- An estimated two thirds of area children participate in at least one United Way-sponsored program including YMCA Youth Sports, Summer Reading at the Fort Madison Library, Tutoring through RSVP, Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Great River Bend, Girl Scout, and Boy Scouts.
- Over 70 families received Winterization Coupons this winter to help seal up leaky doors and windows and reduce their energy bills.
- Thirty five people who are hearing impaired are able to listen to special radios to hear the Daily Democrat and other printed materials read to them through Radio Information Service.
