Through the United Way “Pennies for People” efforts at local elementary schools, local Kindergarten through 5th grade children brought in over 100,000 pennies and learned to LIVE UNITED by helping others. Containers were provided for each class at Denmark, Richardson and Lincoln Schools to bring in pennies and other change for United Way. In addition, each child received a “How do you LIVE UNITED?” coloring page. They were to color the face to look like themselves and then write what they do to LIVE UNITED to help others. They received a credit of $.25 toward their classes total for each paper turned in. The class with the highest combined total from amount raised and coloring pages turned in received a pizza party.
The highest class at Denmark (and the highest of the three schools!) was Mrs. Susie Ross’s 4th Grade class with a pizza party credit of $145.04 which included $143.04 raised and 8 LIVE UNITED papers credit of $2.
