I had a blast doing my first golf outing as Executive Director! The weather was a bit hot but no one seemed to mind.  The greens were almost packed at Sheaffer Memorial Golf Course.  We had 29 teams this year and the scores were neck and neck for First Place. The big winners of the day, besides the United Way, were the Fort Madison School District Bloodhounds.  Greg Smith, Bill Maupin, Dick Burch, and Francis Jordan sweeped the greens with a final score of 15 under Par.  Each of them got $100 gift certificates to Dana Bushong Jewelers.  There were prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in 3 Flights.  They won gift certificates ranging from $25-$75 for Spirit Hollow Pro Shop.

Fort Madison Community Hospital sponsored the event and Ann Menke was our cart sponsor.  Tri State Eye Care sponsored our beverage cart. County Market did an awesome job donating our lunch and the left overs were donated to Emma Cornelius Hospitality House. I personally made myself sick eating the pulled pork from Aggie's on the Greens.  I guess I should have paced myself better!!!!  It was so good. Between that pork and the HyVee cookies I must have gained 5 lbs.   We are grateful to all of our sponsors who donated goods and services to help make our day fun.   Without their kindness and generosity our event would be just another day on the course.

Although no one won the NASCAR hole in one prize from Siemens, but Jens Carlsen walked away with cold hard cash!!!!  He was our big 50/50 raffle winner with a prize of $500.

All of the bills are not completely in but I am estimating a net profit of $8000 for our Community Caring Campaign.  I can't wait until next year - we are going to have even more fun!!!!
